Kate is a true multidisciplinary artist with a Love for Nature and Vintage Charm.  A daydreamer at heart and an avid beach treasure hunter, she brings a unique vision to every piece she creates. Her work is a blend of artistic skill, environmental awareness, and a passion for history, which together result in striking, one-of-a-kind pieces that captivate the imagination.

Sourcing Inspiration from the Cape's Abalone Farms

Kate's creative process begins with a journey to a shell dump located at an abalone farm in the Cape. The trip itself is an adventure, taking her along a rugged dirt road where the natural beauty of the landscape unfolds around her. Along the way, she often encounters warthogs, bushbuck, vervet monkeys, and elegant herons—wildlife that adds an additional layer of inspiration to her work. The environment and creatures she encounters become part of the essence of her creations, infusing each piece with the spirit of the Cape’s vibrant ecosystem.

Using Sustainable Materials: A Commitment to the Earth

What sets Kate's work apart is her dedication to sustainability. She exclusively uses landfill shells from the abalone farm, ensuring that no new materials are taken from nature. Each shell has been discarded and would otherwise be considered waste, but in Kate’s hands, these shells are transformed into beautiful, functional art. By repurposing these shells, she minimizes environmental impact, and the result is an exquisite fusion of vintage charm and modern sensibility.  Her careful attention to detail ensures that each piece is entirely unique—no two shells are ever alike.
